Five major religions are active in China, involving more than 1000 million believers. Freely, they lead a normal religious life. Most Chinese people are unfamiliar with religions. Foreigners know even less about religions in China. In fact, there are not a few misunderstandings, prejudices and accusations among them on the matter. The author, on the basis of his own personal experiences, and with detailed data and vivid pictures, outlines the attitude of the Chinese people toward religion, policies on religion of the Chinese government and the development of five major religions in China.
